R on MacOS Error: vector memory exhausted (limit reached?)

If you are working with a large dataset, you will run into the following error in R:
Error: vector memory exhausted (limit reached?)

The only way to get around this error is to increase the memory allocated to R. For that you will need to create file called .Renviron in your home directory and add the following to the file:

R_MAX_VSIZE=16Gb

The amount of RAM you allocate to R will depend on how much RAM you have on your computer. I have it set to 16Gb

Looks like you've got a thing for cutting-edge Data Science jobs.
